Unrivaled amongst most famed snowboarding areas, Val d’Isre touts 511 kilometers of skiing pistes. The winter season begins during Nov and finishes in mid May. Val d’Isere supplies everything for you. The town stretches through the valley from La Daille until Le Fornet with the apres ski in the centre of Val d’Isere itself. This bunch of pretty buildings comprise chic boutiques most of which have developed since the resort was voted for the 1992 Winter Olympics.

Spred over 3 parts Val d’Isre has enough pistes for all levels of skiers. Like Chamonix France it has a cracking historical snow record, the area is massively fashionable amongst advanced boarders and motorway skiing intermediates, but you don’t need to be particularly brave to love what is there. It’s easy to why so many English are attracted to the domain, with its crazy apres ski and the variety of amusement on offer, however the near proximity of Tignes allows you to head out to less busy climes if it all gets all too much.

Pros

A brilliant night-life in the French Alps. Everyone understands English. Quick approach to Val d’Isre and Tignes known collectively as the the Espace Killy skiing area. It has a lot of vehicles and whilst there are frequent buses in the day, devoted party animmals had better head to be within a short distance from the centre.

Cons

Pricy. Hectic and popular with the English, and so not for people looking for a classic French ski town to savour a calming trip. Several skiing lifts can shut in bad weather. Several tricky blue and green slopes.
