After months of waiting it was finally time for me to take some time off and head off to the Caribbean. But obviously something had to come in the way and this time round it my two sons almost managed to ruin everything. Ryan and Shawn had been fighting all week long on trivial issues. When I told them that we were planning a trip to the Caribbean, they refused to come along. But I had decided not to let anyone ruin my vacation.

I decided to ignore them. They would have no choice. I had already planned my scuba diving trips and nothing or no one could come in the way of my plans. The fact that it was my birthday only increased my determination to carry it forward. I was looking forward to exploring the marine life in the Caribbean. Aruba seemed like a perfect choice and I have heard a lot about the beaches in Oranjestad especially Palm Beach, Eagle Beach, and Arashi Beach. These beaches had excellent water sport facilities and offered amazing opportunities to explore the marine life in shipwrecks near the shore off Oranjestad.

I asked them one final time if they had changed their minds. When I got no response I assumed that they were not interested. Going alone did not seem like such a bad idea after all. I had reached the end of my rope and finally decided to explore the marine life in the Caribbean by myself.

On the day of the trip both of them had trooped off to their friends house for a sleepover so I was rest assured that they would be fine and I could actually enjoy mt holiday. I was disappointed that they didn’t seem to care enough to celebrate my birthday.

As I was boarding the flight I realized that my dream vacation to explore the marine life seemed less exciting. It was almost midnight by the time I had reached the hotel. As I opened the door to my room I couldn’t see a thing as it was pitch dark. Suddenly someone switched on the lights and screamed “Happy birthday”. Ryan and Shawn were standing in the middle of the room. They had planned it all along. It was the best surprise birthday ever.
