Steve grew up in the state of Pennslyvania. When he graduated from high school he opted to study further at the widely respected Yale University in Connecticut and was awarded his degree in 1969. He chose to advance his business education at the internationally renowned Harvard Business School, graduating in 1972. Then Steve started his career in earnest at Lehman Brothers investment bank, located in New York, NY. Before he reached his thirty-second birthday Steve was already a managing director. Steve doesn’t simply give his time and money to a variety of charitable organizations, but he has also been a non-faculty professor at Yale. Beyond this, he is Chairman to the Board of Trustees at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Additionally, he announced on March 11, 2008 that he was presenting 100 million dollars to the New York Public Library to fund their building plans. In fact, the library named one of their new buildings after him. As you’d anticipate Steve Schwarzman is now one of the United States’ elite: he was mentioned amongst Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People on earth in recognition of his accomplishments and influence on the business world.
