Yorkshire Water to Shift Offices

In what will be the largest tenancy in Leeds, Yorkshire Water is getting set to move offices into this location soon. About 500 members of the water company’s staff will be relocated to the new offices in Central Leeds. The company has recently signed off on this agreement.

Yorkshire Water will move into about 55,000 square feet of office space in the centre of Leeds taking up more than two-thirds of the building at Livingstone House in Clarence Dock. The newly created Asset Delivery Department will function out of these premises from early 2010 onwards. The group consists of Yorkshire Water and contract partner employees.

Speaking about the proposed move, the head of the department Charlie Haysom has said that the company invests hugely in this area already and with this move, it has demonstrated its commitment to the community. For the company, the move will mean better working partnerships within the employees arising out of the fact that they are working in close proximity out of the same shared office premises.

Once this relocation is done, Yorkshire Water can continue to focus all its energies into its investment plans which are likely to bear fruit over the next five years. End users are expected to benefit hugely from these programmes, as service levels will be enhanced.

Water regulator Ofwat’s reassurance on the investment of a huge sum of £2b in water and water infrastructure related projects over the next 5 years has boosted the company’s confidence and contributed to the move now. Enhancement projects will include those which address problems like flooding and also schemes for better quality water for bathing purposes.
